The Siemens EQ900 Plus (TQ907GZ3) is aimed at the enthusiast who wants two different coffees on demand with no compromise between them. Its key difference from other two-hopper machines is that each bean container has its own eGrinder, so switching beans does not send the remains of the previous coffee into your next cup.

Our take

Two hoppers, two grinders

Most dual-bean machines share one grinder, which means some carry-over when you switch. Siemens avoids this with a separate eGrinder per container. The beanIdent system lets you select your bean type so the machine can get the best from it.

The listing does not give the size of each container.

baristaMode or comfortMode

In baristaMode you can set strength, size, grinding degree, contact time and brewing temperature, among other parameters. comfortMode keeps things fast and easy for anyone who just wants a coffee. A 6.8 inch full-touch display with touch and slide handles navigation.

The Home Connect app adds remote operation, and its CoffeeWorld section offers international recipes, plus a playlist feature that queues the drinks your guests have requested.

Cleaning and descaling cartridges

The standout maintenance feature is automatic cleaning and descaling using built-in cartridges. Siemens says this means the machine will not stop for cleaning at an awkward moment. A descaling cartridge, a cleaning cartridge, a Brita water filter and a test strip are included, along with a microfibre cloth.

A milk container is included, but the listing does not describe how milk is frothed or cleaned.

Size and specs

The tank holds 2.3 litres. The machine is 47 cm deep, 31.5 cm wide and 39.2 cm high and weighs 13.7 kg, so it needs a large, sturdy space. Power is 1500 watts, and the drinks list includes americano, cappuccino, espresso and flat white.

Against the Rivelia and Barista T Smart

The De'Longhi Rivelia uses two 250 g interchangeable hoppers with Bean Adapt and one grinder, in a much smaller body. The Melitta Barista T Smart has two 135 g compartments, app control and four users. The EQ900 Plus is the most complete, but also the largest.

Verdict

Buy the Siemens EQ900 Plus if you want two beans with no carry-over, deep brewing control and automated cleaning and descaling, and have the worktop to match. If space is limited, the De'Longhi Rivelia offers bean switching in a compact body, and the Melitta Barista T Smart is a simpler two-hopper choice with app control.
