The De'Longhi Magnifica Evo Next is built for a household where two or three people each have a particular way they take their coffee. Its standout is the combination of a 2.4 inch colour touch display with three saved user profiles, so aroma, cup size and temperature can be stored for each person instead of being reset every morning.

In its favour
- LatteCrema Hot froths dense milk foam automatically, and the carafe cleans itself after use, according to De'Longhi.
- Three user profiles save aroma, size and temperature settings for different people in the house.
- The 1.9 L tank and a 24 cm wide body suit a standard worktop without taking over the kitchen.
Good to know
- The grinder offers only 3 settings, which gives less room to adjust for different beans than rival machines.
- The listing does not give a noise figure or say how quiet the grinder is compared with other models.
Our take
Thirteen drinks and how they are tailored
De'Longhi lists up to 13 one-touch beverages, and the spec table names espresso, doppio, espresso macchiato, americano, cappuccino, latte macchiato and iced coffee among them. Each drink can be adjusted for aroma, size and temperature. Those choices are then saved to one of the three profiles, which is the practical difference from entry machines such as the Magnifica Start, where you adjust on the fly each time.
The integrated grinder works with whole beans, and there is also a route for pre-ground coffee, handy when a guest wants decaf without emptying the hopper.
LatteCrema Hot and keeping the carafe clean
Milk drinks come from a LatteCrema Hot carafe, which the listing says delivers dense, creamy foam automatically. The carafe runs an automatic clean after use, and the spec table confirms the machine's parts are rated dishwasher safe. De'Longhi also mentions an anti-scratch drip tray, a small touch that helps a silver finish keep looking tidy.
As with any carafe system, the jug needs to go back in the fridge between uses, so it suits households that make several milk drinks in a row rather than a single flat white in the afternoon.
Grinder settings, size and power
This is where the Evo Next is weakest on paper. The grinder offers just 3 settings, which leaves limited room to correct a sour or bitter shot when you change beans. People who buy darker supermarket blends will rarely notice, while anyone experimenting with lighter roasts may find it restrictive.
The water tank holds 1.9 litres and the machine measures 44 cm deep, 24 cm wide and 36 cm high, so it is narrow for a model with a milk carafe. It weighs 9.6 kg, draws 1450 watts and Amazon lists a 15 bar pump.
Where it sits in the De'Longhi range
Against the Magnifica Plus, which lists 18 drinks and four profiles, the Evo Next gives up a little menu depth and one profile. Against the Rivelia, with two hoppers and Bean Adapt, it lacks the option to keep two coffees loaded. For a first family machine, though, it covers the useful middle ground without the larger footprint of the Eletta Explore.
Verdict
Choose the Magnifica Evo Next if you want automatic milk, a colour screen and separate settings for up to three people in a slim body. If you want a deeper menu or a fourth profile, step up to the Magnifica Plus, and if switching between two beans matters, the Rivelia is the better De'Longhi.
