Espresso, filter and cold brew

Ninja describes the Luxe Premier as three machines in one: espresso, cold brew and filter. Espresso uses the portafilter with single, double and Luxe baskets. Filter coffee and cold brew are made through the same machine, which saves space if you would otherwise keep a separate filter brewer.

The control panel offers recommendations and auto presets for those who want guidance, or more manual control for those learning barista skills.

Grinding, weighing and tamping

The grinder has 25 settings. The built-in scale weighs your dose so you do not need separate scales, and the assisted tamper, part of the starter kit along with a funnel, helps create an even puck. These are the steps beginners usually find hardest, and Ninja has built help into each one.

The automated froth wand

The froth wand steams and whisks at the same time, using a jug with an integrated whisk. There are four presets: steamed milk, thin froth, thick froth and cold froth. That makes cappuccinos, flat whites and iced lattes possible with little technique, and it works with dairy or plant-based milk.

Removable parts are listed as top-rack dishwasher safe, and a cleaning kit and water hardness test kit are included.

Size, power and guarantee

The bullet gives dimensions of 37.2 cm high, 33.6 cm wide and 34.4 cm long, and a weight of 17 kg, so it is a substantial machine. The water tank holds 2 litres and power is 1650 watts. The guarantee runs for 2 years once the machine is registered with Ninja. Heat-up time is not stated.

Against the Bambino Plus and Luxe Café Mini

The Sage Bambino Plus has a 3 second heat-up and automatic milk wand, but no grinder, so you also need a grinder. The Ninja Luxe Café Mini is a smaller 2-in-1 with a scale and hands-free wand, but no cold brew and a 1.3 litre tank. The Premier suits those who want everything in one machine.
