Calculator
Cost per cup calculator
Enter the price and weight of your bag of beans, your dose and any milk, plus what you usually pay in a café. The calculator shows the cost per cup at home and what you save.
In short
Coffee per cup = bag price ÷ bag weight (g) x dose (g). A double shot is usually about 18 g and a single about 9 g. Add the milk: price per litre ÷ 1,000 x ml per drink.

How it works
The coffee in one cup costs the bag price divided by the bag weight in grams, times your dose. Milk adds its price per litre divided by 1,000, times the millilitres in the drink. The saving per cup is the café price minus your home cup, and the saving per week multiplies that by your cups per day and by seven.
| Drink | Typical dose | Typical milk |
|---|---|---|
| Single espresso | 7 to 9 g | none |
| Double espresso | 14 to 18 g | none |
| Flat white | 14 to 18 g | about 120 ml |
| Latte | 14 to 18 g | about 200 ml |
| Cappuccino | 14 to 18 g | about 150 ml |
The calculator leaves out electricity, water, descaler and the machine itself, so it shows the running cost of the coffee and milk only.
